When I decided to run the marathon, I got all sorts of feedback from people. Some hailed me as courageous and inspirational, while some said dumb and stupid. Thirteen weeks into my training, I have finally decided where I stand amongst these different views.
I started out a novice, filled with a lot of excitement upon embarking on this exhilarating journey.I was definitely filled with a lot of adrenaline, the runs were shorter and It was the summer, with little responsibilities other than have fun. 3 miles easy,  6 miles easy, 10 miles easy. As the mileage and other responsibilities began to pile up, adrenaline started to fade and I guess it was here tat those who deemed me stupid were right. It became hard to make the decision to go for that 13, dreadful 18 or even any shorter runs in between these long runs.
But despite the dwindling motivation, I signed up to do the marathon and so I had to train. This was were I started to see the benefits of choosing to run the marathon. I say this because I have always been an advocate of 'just do it....and feel the consequences later' but once the adrenaline was faded, You felt it as you were doing. Every step, heart beat, sound. It was a pretty cool and amazing feeling, something that I did not think I would ever get from running.
So although it might come across as dumb or inspirational I really think that the marathon and running is such more. It allows me to delve a bit deeper into understanding self and a happiness that I haven't experienced yet, which is even more evident upon completion of a long run. November 6th here I come!!!
PS : The hardest thing so far has been raising money to fulfill my pledge of 2500 to shoe4Africa to participate in the race and also help build the first children's hospital in Kenya. If you are reading and feel inclined to donate, you can do so at this link!  http://www.shoe4africa.org/charity/civicrm/contribute/pcp/info?reset=1&id=327  Thank you!!

competitive enigma
First I'll like to apologize to all my readers for taking so long to put up a post, I was plagued with two ridiculous examinations followed by a week and half of suffering from an unknown illness but now I'm back!
Speaking of sickness, in my textbook for pathology (pathos -suffering, logos- to study) I came across a quote that got me thinking.
"There is no escape: It seems that everything one does to earn a livelihood, to subsist, or to enjoy life turns out to be illegal, immoral, or fattening, or--most disturbing--possibly carcinogenic(cause cancer)"
So the gears in my head start to churn....If it is inevitable that potentially everything that we do is bad for us then living itself is essentially dying, no matter how you live. Or is the fact that our world is so competitive that in order to succeed most people knowingly or unknowingly put others down or take an opportunity that could have been someone else's.
These are two very compound questions and indeed a certain degree of truth to both of them but I think in the context of the the above quotes, the second question is one of direct relation. It reminded me of a quote by fabolous the rapper "when you take a chance ever wonder who you take it from".
It is no doubt that every job you get, someone doesn't get a job so they feel unfulfilled. When you gt accepted into an academic institution the same, in sports same, an election same, wars are even worse because everyone suffers. It seems inevitable in every aspect of society that competition plays a role. The thing about competition is that there is a winner and loser and in the grand scheme of thing, people do not usually make a choice to lose at life(no matter what their personal definition is of winning and losing)
It seems that having 'limited resources' play a part in creating this competitiveness that turns out to be detrimental to all. But at the same time could there be a world without competition? And in the case that such a paradigm existed, would it be without war and fraudulence? would everyone be healthy? I guess the only thing for certain is it will be a much different place than our current world.

sex and the generation
To me this is similar to asking, what came first? the egg or the chicken.
It is obvious that over the past view years there have been increases in sexual education(egg) but also 'increases' in sexual practices especially by the younger children(chicken).
Could it be that all the sexual education and preventative techniques such as; teaching the use of condoms to middle schoolers with artificial penis', introducing things like dental dams and having a conversation about various diverse sexual practices spur the interest and exploration of the young. We have come a long way from the ancient mentality where abstinence was preached and sexual practices were taboo to induce fear into the young. This also seemed to not work because it seemed to evoke the same type of exploration in people that is seen with the new method.
Bottom-line is that people will and always have been exploratory and always trying new things from a young age, experimenting however whenever they can. Therefore the idea that the increase in sexual education is causing more youth to involve in sexual practices has to be false. Instead it is a positive sign because the individuals who would partake n the sexual practices are now comfortable to discuss it, therefore opening up a forum to address possible disease prevention methods that may be unknown.
In other words the chicken came before the egg and individuals should try to have conversations with siblings, children ad family members about practices. Obviously not all people are comfortable talking about this topic which has arisen because of the old school stigmas that still exists. Maybe one day protection and comfortable dialogue will be in the forefront of everyones mind who chooses to engage in sexual practices.
PS the chicken did come before the egg, or at least that's what the scientists currently claim.

BE like water
"Be like water" - Bruce Lee
Yes! he was an amazing martial artist, great actor but he was an even better philosopher.
When I heard that line, I got so hyped because he had put in words the way that I enjoy living my life. Think about it for a second....do I sound crazy? maybe. Let me explain.
When you think of water, It is always conforming to fill up an ocean, bowl or water bottle. Water is always adapting ice, to liquid to gas. It can be forceful like a tsunami or gentle during a bath. Water is everywhere but still remains the same at its very core.
In this ever changing world I think we all should strive to be like water, forceful yet gentle, continually adapting but maintaining a sense of self. Imagine achieving a state when you as an individual can effortlessly gel with individual of diffeent backgrounds ad livelihoods. This is what I strive for. Thanks bruce lee, RIP.

How to argue
Lil Wayne brought you 'how to love' but today brace yourself because you will get a sneak peak into 'how to argue'
I am not an expert in many things yet but I am an expert when it comes to arguments, anyone who knows me will bet their lifetime earnings on the fact that I am arguing about something about 80 percent of the time. That's because I'm good at it, I am not a lawyer and do not want to be, I argue because
it is fun. The thing a lot of people fail to understand though is that like many things, there are rules.
Rules that automatically lose you an argument without you even knowing it so I will try to touch a few so that my readers will be at an advantage at the next argument on politics, sports, fashion, celebrities etc etc.
1. Do not lose your cool or get mad, once you start raising your voice when its not out of excitement you might as well throw in the towel
2. Avoid using definitives or exact numbers, statistics change continuously therefore words like
possibly, around and -ish should be staples and your best friends during argument
3. Civil rights movement, this is a hallmark nothing bad came from it, a secret weapon so if you can work it *viably* into your argument. This one time I was arguing health policy with this lady and her point was weak and feeble but she threw in civil rights, all I could do was bow and shake my head it was over! lol
4. Believe your point, do not talk about something that you do not agree with ( dumb for real "hide your kids hide your wife" )
5. Rationalize, best part of argument is when you can convince person (s) to accept that you have a legitimate point. So having some actual statistics never hurt.
Wildcards - racist/ partisan - should be used with discretion, I avoid them in an argument because what if the person is actually a racist or a hardcore partisan ( i.e hate Obama, hate all republicans). Only thing is if you do know these points before hand and they do not collaborate with your views then try to stay away from arguing with such individuals ( could get violent)

REMEMBER an argument is won by whoever does not lose it
I would like testimonies from whoever can adopt these techniques or anything I should add to my repertoire.

maturity
To many people a sense of increased responsibility, a realistic individual, person of a certain age, or a person with few "childlike characteristics". To me it means being able to see a big picture as often because I think realizing that there are so many other things going on and lives that are as important as you think your livelihood is. The next question would be then, when do individuals mature? and I would like to explain this with a short story
Out in white plains with my younger siblings and while we were refilling quarters for the meter we noticed that the meter next to ours was empty too. They would get a parking ticket soon! something that I've been guilty of many times myself. In that instant I thought to myself o well and turned to walk away but my siblings 7 and 8 years younger called me out "you're just going to walk away?, they will get a ticket!!". I thought to myself, why would I want to help this stranger, whom I have no idea about...but an even better question overtook that, Why did my sisters want to help and I didn't?
After much thinking I had to admit it, what came across as a gesture of kindness was also a sign of an aspect of maturity that I need to work on. They saw a bigger picture knowingly or not. Growing old in this world it becomes easy to loose touch with yourself and the world around you because every year adds on responsibilities and stresses. Most importantly we stray away from our "childlike" characteristics that are supposed to be a sign of maturity.
To become mature, I think that the responsibility and old age should be combined with a good dose of youthful exuberance and slightly laissez faire outlook on life.
PS: My weekly 'events' have not been going as planned with the start of school and moving. I have proved unable to complete 7 drawings in a week and that will prove ever more complicated. I have decided that I will still keep drawing as a weekly activity only once a week, but reading three articles daily still remains. In search for a new weekly event to attempt to work into my schedule all ideas are welcome :)

Dear summer
Tomorrow is the first day of my second year of medical school. This new beginning raising a few anxious feelings. thinking about the stresses, thinking about responsibilities, thinking about other goals. What I decided to do was to have a look back at some of the things that have occurred so far this summer to calm me down.
- Went to my first concert - Colbie Callait...and I knew all the words
- signed up to run the NYCmarathon - A feat not for the faint of heart
- Conquered Hadley Mountain - had no idea hiking could be that much fun
- Had my craziest Bday week ever - Sushi&saki/cookie/ciroc/goose/a'mangieres...........
- Went camping for the first time - Watching Baer Grylls definitely paid off
- future health care leaders program -up there as one of my best jobs all time so far
- Got a magazine article - only in touch magazine but gotta crawl before you walk. (GQ I'm coming)
The list goes on and on. I'm smiling.
Keeping up with my blog and training for the NYC Marathon will definitely be difficult but I am excited to take on the challenge.
To update on enrichments - The past week I managed to average about five articles from the times in the day but I will reduce it to three per day. Unfortunately I did not do any drawings like I was supposed to last week but I have decided to have a re-do and I will post & pieces once completed.

Fairly Modest
It is said that humility, and modesty are extremely important virtues. For the longest I have accepted this paradigm of individual character but my views on it have begin to change. There is no doubt, YES be humble and modest always BUT to everyone but yourself.
If I had to vouch for myself I would say that I am a pretty modest person, decently humble but only people who know me would be able to verify. The thing with being so modest with myself was that for the longest I was unable to enjoy, reminisce, have pride in my accomplishments. I also was unable to talk about myself ( Trying to write my medical school personal statement was a task from hell).
When youre not modest to others it is most certainly bragging, but can you really brag to yourself? ( you are the only person that you cannot deceive). Only you know how much work you have put in, how tough the grind was and how good it really felt and feels. Being modest to yourself prevents acknowledments of personal accomplishments and not realizing how much an individual has grown.
After reading this post think about your accomplishments since the start of this year (no matter how big or small), bet it brings a smile to your face.

Its a Rap
Exciting, entertaining, gripping, artistic, creative, poignant, skillful(sometimes) but  WRONG MESSAGE.
Most kids this generation do not need parents permission to buy cds, they can download music online, on phones, watch on youtube etc. It is no doubt that there is no filter to what type of music they listen to. Rap music of course is listened to by many different people but mostly young minority individuals.
That said, it is safe to say that there is a problem with the message being broad casted by this Genre of music. I enjoy rap music no doubt! blasting it in my car, rapping along, figuring out the playon words. All these are fun but, I know better, These guys are not spending, flying, eating, sleeping as much as they say (maybe Jay-Z). And they are not killing, beating up, carrying as many guns (except T.I) as they claim. I know better, but does the teenager growing up in inner city streets? NO! but then what else should they listen to? or whats a better alternative? hopefully this is not another one of those endless cycles in society that is hard to break.
So I feel there is a conflict, cos I like the music but damn, am I setting a bad example every time I listen to it? Definitely have to ponder this over the next few days
P.S RnB/hip hop is no better, they have definitely helped fuel this sex crazed generation.

Broketivity
When you are so broke that you have no option than to partake in abnormal activities - Broketivity. Its the highest or lowest level of being broke whichever way suits you to look at it. It is safe to say I haven't been this broke in a while. It gives me a chance to reminisce on my many times of broketivity.
1. When I ate one 89cent burrito as my three course meal for an entire week. You can say all you want about fast food, but you CANNOT eat healthy when you're broke.
2. Got gas with coins from my car. Think it was a dollar and 74 or 75 cents, you should've seen the look on the cashiers face.
3.two sweatpants three hoodies and two blanket formation to combat the Albany winter because we couldn't afford heat. good times.
4. playing soccer with half an orange or a rock, some of the best times i had playing in my life.
5. Wear the 4 for 5 dollar XXXL white tees .... need i say more? hahahahaha
I think its beneficial that we all experience moments when we are down in our life repeatedly because it keeps us grounded (pun intended). I think knowing how it is to be at the bottom or close t it should be experienced by anyone who will ever have a position of power. This allows for empathy, rational, sensible and being considerate.

To Compare
The tendency to compare is something that all individuals adapt into their lives. Its how we picked our favorite toys as kids, to clothes as adults (we all know our parents picked our childhood outfits that now look hideous), to the foods we eat., it affects people we choose to hang out with, our career paths and many more things. Comparing becomes important because it raises the question of  value. When we compare we are in simpler terms searching for things that we value. Something that has greater value ( bang for your buck) will be selected. (The idea of value and worth will be addressed in a later post)
These are some of the "good" aspects of comparing that w use in our daily lives but there is one that I think should be avoided as much as possible : Comparing yourself to other people. Some call it a way of motivation, some away to feel better about themselves, I call it ineffective. Ineffective for the simple fact that it takes away from true focus and figuring out who we really are. It takes away from individuality because you can spend time figuring out what drives other people and not realize what drives you and your personal interests.
Next time the thought of comparing yourself to others creeps into your mind just let it go, in the words of a wise woman when talking about the same topic, "It is a sign of weakness". You are a completely different entity, at least that 2 percent or so of your DNA that really matters :)
PS: this weeks tasks have been difficult in the sense that I am stuck contemplating what I want to draw more than I've actually been doing any drawing. SO I would like to take requests or at least a comment from reader(s). Its been over ten posts and still no comments.

Weekly enrichment update 1
For the past week I planned  reading ten articles a day from the NYtimes from at least five different sections. The two toughest days ethe first and the last, It was definitely a challenge but I made it through. I have decided that Its worth applying this to my daily life, except ten is way too hectic. I will reduce it to five a day, a more realistic figure.
The News is definitely depressing to read continuously though, very little in the way of good news especially in the realm of politics. The republican vs democrat vs obama saga. The science and health care sections were definitely more uplifting because you I learned about the various health awareness techniques being used to target individuals with the many preventable diseases that plague us like AIDS and Obesity.
For this next week, I will go back to my artistic days. I have always been an artist at heart and this week I will have a drawing/ portrait every day. I will post pictures of my artwork to make sure I complete the task... for now i'm off to loose some points from my I.Q score by watching jersey shore hopefully I gain some back from reading Stephen hawkins book afterwards.

nycmarathon 1
I think purpose is vital in everything we do. The scientists who research constantly to make our future a better place, The teachers who teach children to become better, The parents who constantly attempt to raise their children the right way. I think that with purpose come drive and I have found my purpose for the NYC marathon. Fundraising for shoe4Africa, raising money to help fight AIDs, increase women empowerment and many more amazing ordeals. This purpose is hopefully what will help me complete the marathon. Till now, the most I have run in a day is probably about ten miles, the marathon is two and half times that, so my drive through purpose will be very essential especially with the combination of adequate training. Today will be my first day of training for the marathon and I am extremely hype! I will be running for with a purpose. I hope that through this training process I get to learn a great deal about myself and more about shoe4Africa.
Todays I will run 4 miles so lets get it!!!!

Big picture/Little picture
In this our world, so vast in land, resources, people and most importantly variations. I can't help but to wonder if there is a BIG PICTURE. Like the physicists who search for a formula that governs the laws of the universe, I think of different ways that events and people can intertwine. Can you have a big picture at all for the world or is it a bunch of little pictures. And If it is a multitude of little pictures do they all come together like a puzzle or a mural to make a big picture or can they never be combined.
How can there be so many differences between cultures, lifestyles, communities and individuals. Do these variations have an overlying purpose other than chaos? and can it bring some type of order? What if everyone in the world was the same, of equal status, drive, wealth and happiness. NO I am NOT talking about communism. I'm talking, everyone is equal from birth to death, would the wars, pollutions, disagreements and suffering persist? But for some reason it is not this way, The first humans were not made so different as we all are today.
In a disorganized big picture where the final puzzle is either of chaos or incomplete is the only way that I can envision an individual perfectly happy and successful amidst anothers suffering. It seems that we live in a world that to survive as individuals we dissociate from the idea of an ideal big picture by turning the little picture which is an individual or few people to our big puzzle.
Whatever you do, remember that there is always more to life than yourself. :)

Criti Size Me!
When i actually comes down to straight fact and actuality, there is not really a nice way to tell someone thy are wrong. People are not made to handle that kind of trauma repeatedly in life. I mean, maybe some people can but when you're repeatedly being told fix this or fix that, why did you do it that way? what is wrong with you, It starts the ticking time bomb for when that individual will explode. Here in come the idea of constructive criticism. It is possibly the best way to tell someone they are wrong or to change their ways. It detonates that time bomb for a bit, its like pulling the blue and green wire in a Hollywood production ( not sure which they pull so I guessed)
Having recently started a blog, I definitely opened myself to criticism without a doubt, but It definitely let me know how good criticizers my friends are. I got so much ideas on ways to improve my blog without the feeling of being violated (at least by their words). I did take some notes when I was getting criticized by them so that I can share with anyone who wants to give constructive criticism.
1. Always start your statement with "maybe" - feels like an idea instead of an order (inception)
2. Throw in a positive statement here and there.
3. Avoid using "BUT" by all means because it negates everything said prior
4. Ask what the criticized thinks about it or allow them to react
5. Do not reiterate the point ( a good inception need only occur once) also consistent criticism ends up pulling the red wire too which will also lead to an explosion.
6. Always precede and succeed criticism with positive actions or events or stories.
Hopefully you take these into consideration the next time you need to criticize a person.
Disclaimer: can only be used n logical people. illogical people just have to know they are wrong, in this situation make sure to find shelter for the explosion.

Motivation
After much pondering I have come to a conclusion as to what enriching exercise I will take on for a week. I considered very many options like :-
I. no blasting of music when I drive, but every time the beat drops on otis(new kanye and Jay Z) my fingers automatically go there. Besides I need a way to cover up my horrible voice and me ruining the lyrics
II. no cutting people off/ honking horn or flicking them off when people drive terribly but come on, that's too impossible, I drive in New York.
III. I considered nothing containing sugar, seemed like a good challenge so I'll save that for later
IV. Considered no foul language, but I sincerely think that words are words and nothing more, they are just stigmatized as a result of the society we find ourselves. ( no derogatory terms)
V. no saying pause or no freaky that one i will save for later.
I settled on something a bit challenging but sounds like fun. For the next week, I will read at least 10 different articles from 5 different sections of the New York Times every day. CAN"T WAIT ( Bart Scott)
With that decided, on the the actual posting. The word motivation to most kids under the age of 15 right now probably has no meaning, outside of kelly rowlands gentleman's club banger. No doubt that the new generation is o sex crazed but that's a topic for another day. Motivation to an adult varies between individuals. It is the little things that drive us, push us to get what we yearn for. The things that motivate us allow us to reach peaks that we never expected when we find the correct and effective way(s) of being motivated.
There is no doubt the great variety of ways that work for people. My question or confusion lies between the areas of positive vs negative ways of motivation. I have had an on-going argument with a friend over which is more effective. I am a extremely positive person so no doubt where my argument lies. I see how negative motivation could be good but nothing beats positive reinforcement. The thing about my argument is that although I will always stand by it, I have to question it.
So I explored the different reasons as to why I would choose positive over negative. The first thing that came to my mind is good vs evil. Ever since childhood we always have the idea that good(positive) prevails over bad(negative) pounded into every facet of our being. From wrestling to cartoons to movies. Could it be that I have subconsciously been tailored to believe that the negative is bad because it will always fail when compared to the positive? But although this has been sewed into the fabric that I call my livelihood, does good really prevail?
Its tough to think about but, does a serial killer lose if he is caught and put behind bars or sentenced to die? No. He/she wins because evil or negative does not care it gets the job done by any means possible. Although an argument that is supported by using a serial killer is not one I choose to follow. I guess Negative motivation can be extremely effective fr some people but I'll stick with positive. For Now..Joke
Off to read stephen hawkins book on a 'brief history of time, the universe in a nutshell', if you need reviews let me know.

HealthCare Snafu 1
A lot of people I know seem to be oblivious about our current health care situation, okay maybe I'm not oblivious to the fact but maybe a nonchalant attitude. It is easy to overlook things when you feel powerless or that you will not be affected directly. I am by no means an expert in the current situation but I think I have observed enough so far to make a valuable argument about the situation. I will try to break this down ad make it a bit less complicated than the news.
There are a multitude of players in the health care system but I will focus on a few for the sake of simplicity. The individual/consumer/ everyone in the US
The physician
The government/ politicians
The insurance and pharmaceutical companies
1. The individual/consumer/ everyone in the US
The current health care reform a.k.a 'Obama care' intends to have most Americans covered under an insurance plan. The debate of private vs medicare/medicaid continues, that topic is one that I can talk about for days. Basically majority will be covered, but some people agree and some don't, bottom line is whenever an individual not covered under an insurance plan goes to the emergency room for treatment we all pay for it(tax)...so why don't we cover everyone. The biggest argument with this is that government will be taking too much of a role in health care. The reason I believe that is a good argument for the nay sayers is the sol reason that we live in a country of Democracy. It almost comes across like the current administration is slowly taking control away from the people, with the housing, wall street, the banks, now HEALTH CARE. Another thing that residing in the United States or anywhere in the world is that, you get the best...If and only if you can afford it ( lil wayne flies private jet but i travel southwest). So this creates a dilemma because there are no doubts about the good intentions but it seems like the stretch or power of the government is surpasses the strength or the ability of people to choose. This also beg the next question, If our current societal model supports the idea that people who can afford it(private insurance) get better care than those who are just surviving (medicare/medicaid), then can we EVER have equal health care??? here in comes the physician...
2. The Physician
There are very many health professionals but I want to focus on the doctors because I will be one( fingers crossed) and I feel that they are affected the most. After an undergrad degree and the MCATS we begin medical school. Tuition and cost of living ranging from 50k to 70k or more each year. These expenses mostly facilitated by loans for four years. Then you go through residency where you are likely to make minimum wage or less with the amount of hours you work, this lasts somewhere from 3 to 7 years. Then you finally enter your field, but you still have those loans plus interest, possibly a family and married (apparently that's what's hot in the streets). You now have to make a choice between working in an underprivileged community with very few individuals on private insurance or a wealth community with a lot of private insurance. I know what I would pick because I am not in the field for the money but I when posed with all these circumstances I can see why people desert the suffering neighborhoods. These communities that are underprivileged with increased rates of diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure will end up being treated in clinics by residents. So how do we solve this? increase reimbursements with medicare/medicaid to make it more attractive but instead these programs steadily get cut. These changes lead us down a broken spiral staircase that I like to call health disparity. The new health care changes will increase patients dramatically and might possibly lead to an increased burden on doctors to see more patients n a day, reducing the time spent with patients and reducing the quality of care. I have to add though that of recent the voice of physicians have started to grow and we are staring to get more involved in lobbying and creating physician friendly policies.
The truth hurts and in the case of health care the truth is that good quality care is expensive and if we want good quality for everyone we have to hurt a little bit in our pockets (taxes). And we have to inspire more young kids to get involved in pursuing careers in health care.
If you agree or disagree with anything let me know, there is a comment box for a reason ;)

Dare to Dupe!
Funny thing I have always thought it was hilarious that people end up getting duped by the Internet scammers. Whenever I read or heard about a story, I just know my laugh bellowed for a while. My twin once was caught in a scam and I laughed without mercy at his expense. So it would only be right that I get caught in the web of the Internet scammers.
I had been searching for apartments in the Westchester area for about a week and it just seemed extremely expensive. Still, I had to peruse for the cheapest deal possible and after hours of searching on craigslist VOILA!! 1300 3br apartment in white plains NY. I had to get that, sent an email and got reply within few hours. The name listed n the Email Dafna Gorfinkle. As soon as I saw the name I smiled, that cannot be a real person can it? sounds like a name straight out of harry potter 8 (doesn't actually exist). But, hey its a cheap apartment so I'll check it out why not. Here's a summary of the email exchange
Izu I - Interested in 3br apt in white plains
D.G I - This email was the first red flag for me...sincerely after reading it I thought a Nigerian sent it.sincerely.It read , I work for USAID and work with people who are suffering from so many diseases and blah blah blah. alot of really good things but it was suspicious. My wife and I are located in Nigeria working and we are trying to rent the house all this good stuff.
Izu II - Now I'm a bit skeptical but I am till so curious a 1300 3br would be an amazing purchase but a guy named Dafna? I was caught up. so I replied 3 days later. Sorry for delay, but here's my info and phone number, call me so we can talk about the house because I would like to see the house.
D.G II - I am trusting God that you will take care of the house, the house is still available, my wife and I think you are an amazing candidate to be our tenant. Remember the deposit is 600 and the rent is 1300 but you can wait till a week after you move in to pay the rent.
DEFINITELY another red flag, what land lord in the world would ever ever ever do that? so now its getting comical, I know I am getting scammed or well, Dafna was attempting to scam me.
Izu III - Its great you do all these things with USAID. I am impressed. I am glad you accepted me as tenant. I am curious as to how I would get the keys to the house If you are all the way there and what did you move everything to Africa, and where are you. I need to speak to you asap.
Phone convo - Hilarious red flag number three because he sounded like a Nigerian who was faking his American accent so I break out n laughter over the phone. After allowing him to make up the place that he was from in the US, I asked him what his name meant. He stumbled over that, it was becoming comical. . He proceeded to explain that I would receive keys in the mail but I have to western union the deposit before the keys got to me, which was in two days since he already mailed them...red flag again... Then I broke it to him that I was Nigerian and I felt a shudder through his spine. Indeed his game was up and he knew it, I knew it too. He was an amateur at scamming without a doubt or maybe he just came across an observant person.
I do feel bad for everyone who has fallen to these scam artists. They prey on the weak, use religion to catch the devoted, are very desperate and more times than none they are Nigerian.
BUT I managed to rip through the webs of this Internet scam and my laugh still bellows!!!!

The "C word"
Before I start today's post I would like to just take a moment for my Grandmother who passed away today, may her soul rest in peace.
We have care for those who enjoy catering to the needs of others.Cooperation those who love to work in teams. Compassion for those who ca relate and put themselves in someones shoes. Career for the hard workers and goal oriented among us. The list goes on and on and on, but the 'C word' that I think is the most important in terms of connecting this large world that we occupy is CONSISTENCY. Let me explain.....
So start with one particular individual. All he/she has in terms of connections from the time of birth is their family. I mean your family could be enormous but the numbers that belong to any given family in particular are minute. The way in which an individual can get more connected to the world is through friends. If an individual has a family, and friends ad every family member and friend has friends who has friends....you get my drift. It's kind of the idea behind like a facebook or myspace ( I actually had and I think i still have a myspace, if I can remember password) except I'm talking of real life. An argument can be made for the populations who inhabit secluded parts of the world... the reason we know about them is because at least one individual has been there and back and made a connection. SO in a complex manner but with a simple example, we are connected to the entire world through friends.
This being stated, what in the world does CONSISTENCY have to do with it? Well think about people we consider our friends, how often do they change in their character? How often are we left in awe by their behavior? Not very often. To me the definition of a friend should be a consistent individual. I know maybe people change here and there as they mature and go through stages of their lives but they have those things that makes them stand out, that make us proud to say "that's my friend". And If you do not feel that way about a person then, they are not your friend.....directly. Their consistency of their inconsistency is probably admired by another individual who is somehow connected to you through another friend.
CONSISTENCY = FRIEND = CONNECTION
I know this sounds crazy!! but its my brain talking, deal with it. Seriously though I encourage comments, disagreements or if you think I posed this argument all wrong let me know!
To practice my consistency I will select an activity that I will do consistently for an entire week. The said activity for each week will be intended to make me better as an individual, so cannot wait to begin/blog about them.

Definition of Me
What happens when you are able to start visualizing how immensely large, disordered but beautiful the world is in a really messed up way. How do you stand out amidst billions of people, so you can make a difference in the lives of many. Where do you begin when your urge to care for the masses is trumped by the fear of difficulty that may arise. When is it okay to act a certain way when our character transverses many different aspects of culture and society. Who is important in our lives and the devoir we have to them as part of our society and the world. Why is it that we all tether on the edge every day we embark in life but don't have a clue.
I always get a lot of flack for not including my who, what, where, when, why and how so i think that its a good way to start of my blogging experience. I hope that through my blog I will be able to address these questions or at least explore them in detail amidst talking about my immensely complex and sometimes confusing life. Another way I will address these questions will be to continue exploring the variety of ways that I can keep improving myself as an individual ( funny thing is I really do try).
It will be hard keeping up with the blog especially once second year of medical school begins but I hope that by then I will have an insatiable appetite for blogging, maybe some fans too, never hurts to have fans HA! Another goal is to not implicate myself in any manner or form since I DO have many large future aspirations. Its hard because I am sometimes eccentric and always outspoken but, I'll make it work. Last goal will be to avoid contradicting myself cos that's just straight wack.
